Willie McCreery trained La Belle Maison found her winning opportunity for my brother Patrick Burns of Newlands House Stud. Patrick was both the owner and the breeder of the victorious filly.

 

“La Belle Maison (Titus Livius) had reached the frame in several maidens prior to this and she saw off To Choose (Choisir) on what is likely to be her final career start. She is now likely to visit Born To Sea. She is the fifth winner out of Housatonic (Riverman), who is already the dam of the Gr.2 Prix Niel and the Gr.3 Prix Thomas Bryon scorer Housamix (Linamix; sire) and the triple Listed winner and Gr.1 Vanity International Handicap runner-up Housa Dancer (Fabulous Dancer). At stud Housa Dancer produced the Gr.2 Prix Noailles winner Grand Vent (Shirocco) and the Gr.3 Diomed Stakes scorer Bushman (Maria’s Mon). Housatonic is also the grandam of the Gr.1 Garden City Breeders Cup Handicap heroine and Gr.3 Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial heroine Alexander Tango (Danehill Dancer). The second dam, Hippodamia (Hail To Reason), was the Champion Two-Year-Old Filly in France in 1973 and she won the Gr.1 Criterium des Pouliches, as well as finishing second in the Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and the Gr.1 Prix Saint-Alary. Hippodamia is the dam of the Gr.2 Excelsior Handicap winner Globe (Secretariat), the French Listed winner Hoya (Secreto) in addition to the Stakes-placed duo of Foam Flower (Grey Dawn II) and Balance (Youth). Hippodamia is the grandam of a pair of Stakes-placed runners in Robin Lane (Tenby) and Harlem Dancer (Dr Devious; dam of the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes winner Hototo). The family also includes the Brazilian Gr.1 hero Requebra (Put It Back) and the Venezuelan Gr.2 winner Tap (Maris Book).”
