Bungle Inthejungle
30 Jun 2014
I am delighted to announce Bungle Inthejungle as our new stallion for 2015. I have learnt over the years that stallions that have worked well for Rathasker and our clients have been fast, precocious Northern Dancer line racehorses. From Mujadil to Fast Company, Bungle Inthejungle is the perfect fit for Rathasker. Being by Exceed And Excel, the world leader in producing two year old winners and high class Group 1 performers with the likes of Excelebration, Margot Did and Helmet.
Out of Stratford Place Stud’s famous Crime Of Passion family. Breeder Chris Wright has said, “as perhaps the fastest and most precocious European son of Exceed And Excel, Bungle Inthejungle is sure to have the best possible chance of siring early season two year olds that can train on to be top class sprinters.
He comes from one of the best two year old families around, which emanates from the foundation mare at Stratford Place, Crime Of Passion, who won the Group 2 Cherry Hinton, before being placed in the Prix Robert Papin, Group 1. Bungle Inthejungle’s dam, and Crime Of Passion’s daughter, License to Thrill, has produced nine winners from nine foals, with five of them so far being black type performers, including Group Therapy and Waveband, and the list is likely to be further increased by the future exploits of this year’s unbeaten Starspangledbanner two year old colt, Moonraker.
I am sure we will see plenty of Bungle Inthejungle’s progeny flying the flag for Rathasker Stud in both Royal Ascot juvenile races, and top class all aged sprints in years to come.”
Bungle Inthejungle is a big, powerful sprinter, typical of the Danehill line. Although he was a 27th of April foal, he was mature enough to win a 5f maiden at Salisbury on the 24th of May and then win the 5f Brian Yeardley Trophy a week later at Beverley, before being placed in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot. He returned to winning ways in Goodwood’s 5f Molecomb Stakes, Group 3. Bungle Inthejungle then finished a close 2nd in the Group 2 Flying Childers in September. He showed his hardiness and durability when outbattling subsequent Group 2 Lennox Stakes winner Garswood in the 5f Cornwallis Stakes (Group 3) at Ascot in October. Mick Channon, a man renowned for his prowess with two year olds said, “Bungle Inthejungle was a pleasure to train. He was a clear winded, tough, honest two year old with blistering speed and as brave as a lion., with a wonderful temperament. He handled all types of ground from firm to soft.”
Bungle Inthejungle has the perfect combination of sire power, a tremendous damside and high class, sprinting two year old ability. This gives him a great chance of being another successful Rathasker Stud stallion.
