Al Qahwa Shines for Fast Company
17 Jul 2015
Michael Halford looks to have another smart juvenile on his hands as Al Qahwa (Fast Company ex Cappuccino) created a favourable impression when opening his account in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Leopardstown.
He settled in behind the leader before quickening up in really good style and stretching to a three and three quarter length success.
Halford said: “He came on plenty from Naas and was smart away from his wide draw. He got a nice lead and we were glad there was something to lead him. It all worked out well, he picked up well and was very professional. We’ve always liked him and he’s typical of one of ours in that he came on from his first run. We’ll see where we go now and see if he progresses. He could be smart. He’s very straightforward and has a great attitude.”
Al Qahwa looks a nice type and should hold his own in better company. He is a half-brother to three winners, out of the unraced Cappuccino (Mujadil), who is a half sister to the Gr.3 Dubai Duty Free Arc Trial and multiple Listed scorer Compton Bolster (Red Sunset). The second dam is the dual juvenile winner Milk And Honey (Go Blessed), who is also the grandma of the Gr.3 Kentucky Cup Turk Stakes winner General Jumbo. Milk and Honey is also responsible for the decent producer Ideal Home, dam of the Gr.3 Fred Darling Stakes and Gr.3 Matron Stakes winner Iftiraas and the Gr.3 Gladness Stakes Stakes victrix Bezelle. The third dam Café Au Lait (Espresso), bred ten winning offspring who included the Gr.3 Prix Foy victor Beeshi and the Listed scorer Chaumiere.
