Rumble In The Jungle! JUNGLE JANE is freshman sire Bungle Inthejungles first winner
29 Mar 2018
Rathasker Stud’s Bungle Inthejungle became the first freshman sire to get off the mark in 2018 when his daughter Jungle Jane made all to land the opening 5f fillies maiden at Dundalk on Wednesday. The filly broke smartly from stall two and, despite showing signs of greenness once under pressure, she stuck her head down and ran on gamely to hold off the fast-finishing Romme by a neck.
Jungle Jane was bred by Jackie O’Flynn out of the Acclamation mare Funcheon Vale. The filly was purchased as a foal by Noelle Walsh for €8,000 and purchased as a yearling for €15,000 by a partnership of Willie & Amanda McCreery and Rathasker Stud. The winning debutante carried the colours of Madeline Burns, daughter of Rathasker Stud owner Maurice Burns, to success on Wednesday. “We are delighted with Jungle Jane’s win,” winning owner Madeline Burns told the TDN. “Willie McCreery always held her in high regard and it is very special for us to own Bungle Inthejungle’s first winner. Jungle Jane is blessed with natural speed and Willie believes that she will be even better when encountering fast ground on the turf. Billy Lee, a natural horseman, gave her a nice introductory ride.” Willie McCreery said "She's a sharp little filly and has tons of boot - loves that surface and needs a good surface as she doesn't bend the knee at all. We'll take our time with her and see where we go but the obvious race would be the Rochestown Stakes over five furlongs.”
