RUMBLE INTHEJUNGLE WINS THE GR.3 MOLECOMB STAKES
03 Aug 2018
Rebel Racing’s Rumble Inthejungle came to Goodwood a stronger unit after his fourth in the Gr.2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot and made his opponents pay in the Gr.3 Molecomb Stakes. Always travelling comfortably just off the pace, the 5-1 shot was sent to the front by Tom Queally at halfway and readily asserted to emulate his first season sire’s success in the race in 2012. At the line, there was a snug 2 2/2 length margin back to Life Of Riley, with the favourite Soldier’s Call a neck away in third. “He’s a good horse and I thought going to Ascot if we’d had another run beforehand he’d have gone very close there,” said trainer Richard Spencer. “He’s taken a massive step forward today and although he was very quick, I think he’ll get an extra furlong.” Queally was also of the opinion that the winner would stay six and added, “I couldn’t pull him up today. He showed a lot of speed, but you would think in time, he will get six furlongs – he is clearly a colt with a lot of class. He has scope and, with the feel he gives you, there is no reason to think that he can’t keep improving into his 3-year-old campaign. He is so straightforward, a child could ride him.” Rumble Inthejungle opened his account at the expense of Well Done Fox by a neck at Salisbury on the 17th of May.
He was bred by Patrick Gleeson who offered him for sale at Goffs UK Premier under Acorn Stud – he was purchased by Rebel Racing, Bobby O’Ryan and Richard Spencer for £70,000. Rumble Inthejungle is out of winning Guana who also produced last year’s Gr.2 Superlative Stakes third Great Prospector. Guana is kin to the dual stakes placed Enrika’s Gift and to the dam of Superlative winner and Gr.1 Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Turf third Birchwood, while her family features the sire Prince Sabo and the classy mother-and-son combo Millyant and Mirza. Massive congratulations to all connections!!
