Que Amoro captures first Listed victory

23 Jun 2020

Que Amoro turned the Listed EBF Land O’Burns Fillies Stakes into a procession at Ayr yesterday, skipping clear to record her first black-type success. The four-year old daughter of Es Que Love was last seen when second by half a length over an extended 5f at Ayr in September in the Listed Scottish Fillies’ Sprint Stakes, having also bagged a brace of handicap successes last season to add to her two juvenile victories. In this 5f contest, she travelled up with the pace, racing in the centre of the track, and kicked for home with two furlongs to go, swiftly moving up to challenge the front-running Merry Banter and taking the lead with a furlong to go. She put the matter to bed in a matter of strides, powering clear to score by three lengths from American Lady, who ran on for second, three quarters of a length ahead of Merry Banter. “She’s got a lot of natural speed and she has done very well over the winter. She’s a nice filly, one to look forward to,” the winning jockey Paul Mulrennan commented. “She’ll improve for that run, she’s only been ticking away at home. We think she’s better on faster ground. Hopefully we’ve found another aeroplane.”

The Rathasker Stud bred filly is a half sister to 5f maiden winner Miss Cogent, out of the unraced Mr Greeley mare Onomatomania, herself a daughter of the Listed-placed Seattle Queen. She is a half-sister to the US Gr.2 winner Harissa, out of US Stakes winner and Gr.3-placed Dynasty.

Many congratulations to trainer Michael Dods and owners Peter Appleton and Anne Elliott!
